March is Women’s History Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women throughout history.
The origins of this celebration trace back to the early 1900s, when women began organizing and advocating for equal rights, fair wages, and the right to vote. What started as International Women’s Day in 1911 grew into a broader recognition of women’s impact on society. In 1987, the United States officially expanded the celebration to the entire month of March — honoring generations of women who have shaped culture, science, art, business, and community.
Throughout history, women like Frida Kahlo, whose powerful and deeply personal art challenged conventions and inspired millions, have shown the world the strength of creative expression and individuality. Women such as Marie Curie, a pioneer in science, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who championed equality under the law, remind us how lasting the impact of determined women can be.
At Gemma’s Jewelers, we’re proud to celebrate the women who help lead our own story — Margarita and Amy Pereda, a remarkable mother-and-daughter team at the heart of this family business.
Together with Amy’s brother Robert, the family oversees three Gemma’s Jewelers locations, each one guided by the same commitment to quality, service, and trust that customers have relied on for years.
Margarita, with decades of experience, helped build the foundation of the business through hard work, dedication, and a deep understanding of what meaningful jewelry represents in people’s lives.
Amy carries that legacy forward while adding her own creative vision. In addition to managing her store, she is also a talented jewelry designer, helping clients transform ideas into custom pieces that often become treasured family heirlooms.
While Robert proudly manages the third location, this month gives us the perfect opportunity to highlight the incredible women whose leadership and passion continue to shape the spirit of Gemma’s.
Women’s History Month reminds us that progress, creativity, and leadership often come from those willing to dream bigger and push forward — and we are proud to celebrate the women who do exactly that every day.
✨ Happy Women’s History Month from Gemma’s Jewelers.
